Happy Halloween!

No Halloween would be complete without this song. I think I saw the movie with the giant spiders once when I was little. We hid the spiders with pillows to keep Meg from getting scared she was so young - either that or took her in the kitchen for a piece of candy.

Don't know why this bothers me but...

Perhaps my fellow Star Trek geek friends can relate/help with this one. I was sick all weekend, so yesterday I saw bits and pieces of a variety of movies including The Birds, Elizabeth The Golden Age, and came upon Star Trek II and saw the beginning of it.

Besides being my favorite Star Trek movie, I love the beginning - the music, the cool "In the 23rd century", "Botany Bay, Oh No, Keptin' we have to get out of here, Damn", etc. So I decided to watch the beginning of it and I think one of the big questions I have is why the Klingons are already in the neutral zone during the Kobyashi Maru when it is the 'neutral zone' and to enter it is an act of war? Should't it be an act of war if they are there already or is this just a galactic double standard? Should there still be double standards duing the 23rd century?

I know these questions are of galactic importance right now given all that is going on, but you know it just kind of bothered me yesterday. I guess that's what happens when you are sick and watch tv all day and your husband plays computer games ad nauseum.

Quotation

"When in the future you look back upon your life, will you most regret the times you tried and failed or the times you found excuses and did not try at all?"

I don't remember who said this, but I remember the quote and it is very true for me. There is one thing I need to quit finding excuses for. I will post more later, but the time for excuses is nearing the end!! Happy Thursday to all!

I'm responsible for dinner

So Tuesday afternoon Jim emails me because he's had a very hectic day and will have to stay late for a staff meeting. He emails me and asks me if I can be responsible for dinner - I email him back to see what he has in mind.

Now, for those of you who don't know I don't do the cooking at my house. That is a husband task because, I don't cook much, Jim likes to, and I just don't. So I wasn't really sure what Jim was expecting when he asked me to be "responsible" for dinner. Turns out, he wanted me to get a pizza from Papa John's ordered - that I can do for sure.

So I called them on the way home, and went by there to pick it up so that it would be home when he got home. It felt kind of nice too, having dinner ready when Jim came home. The last time I cooked dinner was Valentines Day 2006. Sad that I remember this and sad that is the last time I cooked a dinner for Jim. However, Jim knew all of my culinary skills and lack/will thereof waaaayyyy before we got married. When we were dating, I cooked breakfast for him. I was telling my best friend about it and she said "You cooked something? This must be serious." My friends know me well!!!!
