It's Official

Ok, I am now officially addicted to the hot tub. Last Friday after a very long week reviewing the bank's 10 K (annual financial statement and supporting documentation), all I could think of was getting in the hot tub right after work and having a beer while in it. It was total bliss.

Mom and Dad came up to visit last weekend too, and we all had a relaxing dip after dinner was over and before the Tennessee vs. Memphis basketball game came on tv.

I have been in it three times this week already and will make it four after work today. That Yuengling Black and Tan is calling my name again. Or, I may have another Gin and Tonic like I did last night - it hit the spot!

Mot - I must admit that you have fine taste in brewed beverages. Not one for the hot tub, but I will be enjoying the pool in a few months!

Now...where is the bottle opener.

I remember going to a hot tub party back in my wild and foolish youth. It was in the middle of summer in Illinois, not exactly the best conditions for hot tubbing. Apparently, the secret to a really good hot tub party is to put a bottle of Rumplemints (licorice flavored liquor) in the freezer beforehand. It's nice and cold and is a great accompaniment to the hot tub. I don't remember much after that, though.

Yeah, I never really thought I was a hot tub kind of gal, but we enjoyed the one at Disney so much that Jim was hell bent on getting ours fixed. After being on your feet all day and doing nothing but walking, the hot tub was almost a necessity before going to bed after a long day.

Now I'm just enjoying the relaxation part of it. I guess we'll have to try the freezer thing for the summertime. And Jim says we can just adjust the thermostat and cool off the tub for summertime use.

Oh yeah, I like that Black and Tan but as far as a mixed drink - I'm a Gin and Tonic gal all the way as it has been my favorite for quite some time now.

Mot--may I be so bold as to recommend a Grey Goose and Tonic? Use lime instead of lemon. Mr. Kirk turned me onto that little jewel. Like Chuck, I am not a hot tub person either, but the Black an Tan ranks at the top of my list as well.

I am reminded of a hot tub party I attended at The Whitney Hotel in Five Points. There were several of us, young and free, heading to the hot tub, when suddenly, there is a scream! Apparently someone before us had elected to defecate in the hot tub, which would be closed for the remainder of our stay.

I've had a vodka tonic before (and my whatever and tonics are always with limes), but somehow the gin just does more for me.

What's so funny is that my husband HATES gin and tonic but he'll drink Guiness or Jack and coke like there's no tomorrow. I spent my college years with burbon and seven, so I really appreciate the crisp, light, non-sweet, tangy, tart, gin and tonic. Man - just thinking about it makes me want one and it's only 8:30 in the morning!
